review 1: After reading the description of this book, I would not normally pick it up to read it. I'm not much of a mystery, suspense reader. I like a little, but not too much. Because I am doing a summer reading program, I decided to read it anyway. It was great and I am looking forward to getting my hands on the sequel. Brinna was abducted at 6 years of age, was found and went on to become a cop with a huge passion for rescuing children. She was a little too work-focused and had no time for God or family, but that changes through out the book. By the end, she realizes that God and heaven are things she needs to deal with and she is willing to go back to church and start to deal with these issues in her own life. There is only the faintest hint of any kind of romance which was some... morewhat refreshing. I would definitely recommend this book, but a warning: It is very hard to put down.
review 2: In Critical Pursuit, a child goes missing and it is up to Officer Brinna and her sidekick, Hero to find the child. For Brinna, this case hits home because she was once an abducted child and her patience is put to the test when she is partnered with Detective Jack who is still grieving the death of his wife. Can the two put their personal demons aside in order to work together to bring home the missing child? Will this case help heal their brokenness? This was one of those books that I could not put down until it was read. It has plenty of suspense, mystery, and the characters are so life-like. less
