review 1: When I first started reading this book with one of my kids, we were waiting in the emergency room waiting for the doctor ~ I thought the book would distract them from the reason we were in the ER. At that point, I didn’t like the book; however; to be fair, I reread the book in calmer environment and wasn’t so turned off by it. In fact, my children turned out to like it also. I think this book would be a good purchase.

Although Krosoczka created clever lunch lady weapons to facilitate this action-based plot, a universal setting that all kids will understand, and a female superhero for a genre commonly associated with boys, this story lacks substance and was quite boring. I couldn’t wait to be done reading after beginning this book, and I have no intentions of using this graphic novel for instructional purposes in my future classroom. less
