review 1: I am a huge Jason F. Wright fan. I'm working my way through his collection. I liked this book, but it wasn't as outstanding as many of his others. I'll explain how I rate Jason's work. The first three books I read by Jason were "The Seventeen Second Miracle" "The Cross Gardener" and "The Christmas Jar" ... Each one of these had me in tears and laughing and boohooing like a baby with big fat tears. I am in awe of Jason's writing. He knows that because I've written him long Facebook notes about them. No I don't know Jason personally so I'm not biased by any means. I'm just an avid reader and his work is awesome.Sooo I rate his books by the crying, laughing, the cheering and the not so pretty face after I finish the last few pages scale.This book didn't hit me like his others... more. I read "The Wednesday Letters" although I loved it and this book is a follow up to it. I didn't cry and laugh and boohoo at either. So it only gets 4 stars. Still excellent writing. Just not the emotional reaction I'm used to.
review 2: I listened to this book on a recent trip, and I really enjoyed it. It was a clean book with a sweet plot, but it kept me interested the whole time. I guess it is the second book in a series, but it holds its own. It is a romantic book with great detail, but not so much that it gets boring. The characters are well written, even for a second book. I want to read the first one and see what happens before this one. It was nice that if my kids took their headphones off, I wouldn't have to worry about them hearing things I didn't want them to hear. I thought the ending was a bit too convenient, but it was a nice, fluffy read, which I don't mind so much. less
