review 1: By Kayla: I was given this book for an honest review. This was an awesome book. The title makes you think it’s going to be about Skipping stones, but no that’s not at all, what it is about. Alex is a normal teenager but seems to have an old soul. She would rather spend time with her grandparents than doing other things like her friends. A lot of things in this book you would think oh this is going to happen but it doesn’t and it has surprises all throughout it. I think that’s why I enjoyed it so much. I like to not be able to see things coming. It makes the book more interesting. J.B has placed a lot of raw emotions into her characters, not only Alex and Drew but papa and memaw. You fall in love with ever one in the book. J.B brings her characters to life in her st... moreory and it feels like you are living the life with them. I love stories that bring me in. Those are the kind that warm your heart and bring out emotions that sometimes are hidden. This book made me cry and it made me laugh. I am a pretty emotional reader anyways but this book had me crying from the prologue. I loved it. J.B you did an awesome job in writing in this story. I am so glad I got a chance to read it.
review 2: Was not impressed with this book at all. Getting hung up on someone for 15 years that you knew for 3 weeks when you were 15 seems a little dramatic. Feel like there was a lot of "mentioning" in the book rather than "showing" real feelings. Glossed over that she's a doctor. Glossed over why she's joining the army, etc. I feel these are big things in a persons life. Spoiler. I felt her parents death got a few pages, yet her grandpa got chapters. Just didn't all add up. Don't waste your time. less
