review 1: This book captured my interest and intrigued me--as a romance, an exploration of faith and service, and a revelation of the cultural and political situation in Afghanistan. I fell in love with all the main characters and had to keep reading to find out what happened to them. I can't remember a time that I stayed up half the night reading to finish a book, then immediately bought the sequel and read it the rest of the night. The first book had a satisfying ending, but I wanted to read the next book because I wanted to continue to follow the characters' journeys. This book and its sequel are two of my all-time favorites.
review 2: This book was a pretty good read. It was on about how life in Afganistan is for women and the story of an aid worker sent there to he
... morelp women and children. It was about her struggle with what she can actually do for these people considering how restricted the lives of women are there. She is compassionate and through her faith she is able to form relationships and offer hope to these people. There is also a dark side to this story that involves suicide bombers and some americans who are on contract to protect one of the corrupt leaders. Their lives intersect and you are left guessing until the end. This is a clean story and written well. less
