review 1: I really enjoyed this look at Caterina Sforza through the eyes of her fictional maid-in-waiting Dea. While at times I found myself wishing that the story was told from Caterina's perspective just to get a more direct perspective on the warrior contessa, I was intrigued by the inclusion of tarot cards, angels etc. Not completely what I expected, but an entertaining historical fiction novel set in my beloved Italy.
review 2: I liked it! I found it very enjoyable and as I read it, I looked up facts about most of the characters. Her descriptions were pretty accurate of their features and of their personalities. As for the fictional characters and the "magical" storyline; I enjoyed it too. People today don't realize how spiritual people were back then and it was ve
... morery common to believe in magic or higher power. This fits in with the time, so I'll give the author credit for Dea's story less

A little tricky with so many long italian names for the characters but well worth preserving with!
