review 1: When I first started this book I felt it was different, I think because it's set in a 70s/80 era it had a different vibe, but I couldn't stop reading it. The more I read the more I loved the story. My heart breaks in so many ways for the MC's. At one point Jeff is narrating his thoughts about his mother. I literally could have written that about my own. I cried as though my heart was breaking all over again. I felt jeff's pain and loved Brett was there supporting him.This was a very emotional story about a boy facing a lot of pain in a short span, I enjoyed reading this book and I will definitely be searching out more from this author. By the way, I love happy endings too.
review 2: I wanted to love this book. I want lgbt fiction writers to be successful so I h... moreave more to read. I got half way through the book and then you got so passed of. I picked it back up and skimmed through the rest. First the writing style is terrible, giving details that are so far from the point and useless. But the thing that bothered me most was the messed up and unhealthy relationship and the way it's portrayed as love. The ending bothered me the most and I'm usually the one to cheer for that type of ending but all I felt was anger. This is probably. The worst review I have ever given. I am a big reader of all types of books (mostly fiction) and I'm aware that my review is here highly biased because of my emotions regarding the way the (love) relationship was portrayed. Perhaps other readers would be able to see it otherwise but I recommend not to even bother picking it up. Perhaps the authors other books are better and perhaps eventually once my distaste fades ill be able to give him another shot with his other books. less
