review 1: A sad yet fascinating story, admittedly I knew nothing about the story of Bonnie and Clyde (never even saw a movie) so I went in to the story without any biases or preconceived ideas, other than the idea that they were two murderous criminals! However, the story is so interesting and much deeper than I thought. I love reading historical crime, there is so much missing in history about how the social/cultural/economic structures effected the people of that moment of time. Really worth the the time.
review 2: I became obsessed with learning more and more about Bonnie & Clyde after reading this book. I found them to be sympathetic characters. Both felt they were destined for great things, but they could not work their way out of poverty. I think it was a cle... morear statement of what extreme poverty can do to a person's sense of right and wrong. They did terrible things, but they were not all bad. A statement on the human condition. Their assassination was unjustified. less
