review 1: Very well researched, but I suppose because I've already read so much on this topic it didn't have as big an impact on me as it probably will others. I was most interested in the stuff about his early life. I skipped over all the stuff about the murders and went ahead to the trial. The acknowledgements show that he was able to interview Leslie van Houten which led to some interesting insights. Another negative for me was that it had a very abrupt ending.
review 2: Historical true crime book about not only the crimes of Manson and his “family”, but also Manson’s early life and that of his mother, aunt, cousins and grandmother.
