review 1: I was not a big fan of this one. The family in trouble seemed to do all the cliche things that you know are a bad idea and that just leave you shaking your head. And as a result got the only likable characters in the book killed. At that point I stopped really caring what happened to them and would have stopped reading the book were I not so close to the end. And then the end of the book just kept going and going. I am one that normally doesn't see plot points coming but the end paragraph was obvious from a mile away. Overall I was rather disappointed given the other reviews.
review 2: Overall a good story. The bad guys were creepy and you'll be wanting revenge on them just as much as the poor family being terrorized. The family is filled with happy, sunshiny p... moreeople that you'll root for and hope they escape. I had intended to give this one higher marks. The author is good about building suspense. Things stretched out and seemed to be going at a good pace but then it was like the tension rubber band snapped and things got stretched a little too far. It left me curious to read the next so I hope to start that one today. less
