review 1: Little Mouse Gets Ready is written by Jeff Smith. The story is about a little mouse who is going to visit the barn with his Mama mouse. She keeps asking the little mouse if he is ready and he keeps replying with “almost.” The little mouse is trying to put clothes on so he can go to the barn dressed. He puts on underwear, socks, pants, shoes, and even a shirt. Mama mouse asks little mouse again if he is ready and this time his reply is “Yes!” When his Mama comes to get him she sees that he is dressed and says to him that his sill because mice don’t wear clothes. This book has received two well-known awards; a Theodore Geisel award and a Bakers Dozen award. As a teacher, I would use this book in a pre-kindergarten to 2nd grade class. In the classroom, the te... moreacher could read this book aloud to the class and then the students could act it out. The teacher could also use this book as part of a text set to teach a science unit on mice. This book could also help students learn about routines like getting dressed or what they do in the morning. This book is a great graphic novel for young students.
review 2: Ages 3 and up Little Mouse gets ready to go on a trip to the barn by dressing himself. When his Mom mouse tells him he doesn't wear clothes because he is a mouse he quickly sheds them and goes on his way to the barn. This is a great book for explaining how to get ready. Little Mouse is very detailed in his explanation of how to put clothes on. This would be a good book to create a dialogue with the children about what little mouse should put on next and ask them questions about how they get ready in the morning. less
