review 1: Okay, this may be someone else's perfect book but there were too many ... stumbling blocks for me. I couldn't relate/bond with the characters at all. Part of it was the sticky sweet too perfect way they interacted most of the time. Part of it was the creepy factor of a 23 year old woman crushing on a 17 year old boy. Yuck! Hannah is first portrayed as this independent, professional woman and then she starts acting like a 13 year old girl around Josh. She taught young girls and turns around and acts like she is totally controlled by her hormones. I was constantly jerked out of the story by statements that just didn't fit with a woman her age -- and feeling like I should turn her in for statutory rape. As a mom of teenagers, I just found that too weird.There is also strange ... moreconversations between brother and sister about sex, another large age gapped couple naked together and a same sex couple. It was a creative mash up of genres. I generally like YA and fantasy novels because of that creativity, but I'm guessing the target audience would enjoy this much better than I did. Specially if they aren't Christians.
review 2: I really liked the story line and loved the idea behind the story was unique... However, there were a few things that I didn't like. Most of all, this was only 160-some odd pages on my Nook. The story just ended, no resolution to anything whatsoever. I see no reason for this to be a stand alone book since it's so short. It seemed like more of a sample than anything else. I'd like to read the second book but I'm a little turned off from the abrupt ending of the first one. less
