review 1: I read this while visiting family in Flagstaff and was just so tickled to read about nearby places and imaginary, magical reincarnated people. YAY! A steamy, yet sensitive romance with fun cultural/historical tidbits. Also, the main character had a great relationship with her brother. Hurrah for healthy and loving families, especially when evil forces are gaslighting you.Minus five points for using the word "cardie". Oh the horrors of flagrant and unnecessary abbreviations. Favorite Quotes:'You know, you've always needed freedom,' Josh said suddenly and warmly. 'You're like a butterfly. Beautiful and hard to catch.' Hannah blinked. What the hell was I supposed to say to that?'But,' she stammered. 'But that's your-thingie.'

As I read this as a Chinese version and considering I mostly write review in English in goodreads, I will do my review in both Chinese and English.時間的陰影這本書對我來說可以是挺新鮮的,因為這是我第一本看以美國原住民為題材的小說.除此之外,因為我之前看的大部分小說女主角都是16,17歲的,而今次時間的陰影這書的女主是一個已經教書一年的老師,所以可能就是這樣,女主角感覺行動,舉止都比較成熟.這書給了我一樣和以往我習慣讀的小說類型有不同的感覺.Shadow of Time give a new experience of reading. This is the first book that I read about aboriginal in US. Besides, I rarely read a book that the heroine is that 'old'. The type of novel I use to read is YA novel and in which the character is about 16,17 years old. The heroine in this book is a teacher and have been teaching for one year, so this is not my typical type of novel I like to read. Therefore, the book gave me different experience and feeling I don't have before.關於劇情方面,這本書前大半部分都在不斷埋下一些伏筆,例如女主回到亞利桑那州渡假遇到弟弟的朋友,之後的惡夢等等,什至一些非常小的事物,好像蝴蝶等,都和本書後半部分的情節有關的. 而後半部分,就是不斷地解謎,解開男女主之間的身世淵源,以及帶出一段由幾百年前就開始的故事,總括而言,作者都對伏筆做了完整的處理,劇情之間雖然會涉及回憶的部分,但都不會顯得不銜接.When it comes to the plot, the first half of this book is giving us a lot of clue, such as Hannah backing to Arizona to spend her Summer vacation, the nightmares, even the little things as the butterfly. They are all about the plot of the second half of the book. In my opinion, the second half is about solving the mystery, knowing about how the character really are and telling a story that started couple hundreds years ago. To conclude, the author deals with the clues very properly. Although there are a lot of the plot about the memories in the past, it is a very fluent story.就像我之前提到,這書是關於原住民的. 我之前對原住民的了解其實只有捕夢網(本書也有提到這個!), 但經過了這本書後,我了解到一些原住民的生活習慣,儀式,以及一些慘痛的歷史.(雖然我相信大部分都是虛構的),但我相信關於戰爭的可怕,無論在現實世界還是小說內,都是一樣的.As I mentioned, this book is about aboriginal of US. Before I only know what is a dream catcher(the book get a plot with is), but not any other things else about aboriginal. However, I gain some more knowledge after reading this book, such as their daily life, ceremony and also the heart-broken history.(although I believe most of the thing about that group of aboriginal is fictional), I believe that the horror and consequence of war is also the same no matter in reality or fictional.之所以扣除了1.5粒星星,是因為男主實在不是我非常喜歡的類型(對不起!),另外,對於本書的女主,我也不太喜歡她的性格. 還有可能是中文版的關係, 譯文不是做得太流暢,所以結果就是3.5星星.Why I deduct 1.5 star because Josh is not really my type(SORRY!). Besides, I am not a big fan of the personally of Hannah. In additions, maybe the translations is doing quite good, I felt a little bit strange when I read the book. Therefore, 3.5 stars. less
