review 1: A fun, fast read - Jenna Woginrich takes on her journey and gives us some tips for living off the land along the way. This is not a how-to, or a step-by-step guide to getting back to the land - it is simply HER story, and the things she learned doing it all her self. I appreciated her honesty, her positive outlook ( even when everything seemed to be going wrong), and enthusiasm. I felt like I was listening to one of my friends.Personally, I have always wanted to do what Jenna is doing, and one day hopefully I will - and whenever that happens - when things go wrong ( and they will go wrong - as this book taught me) I will remember that I'm not alone, I am not the first person to screw up ( and I wont be the last), and everyone has to start somewhere. I really admire Jenna W... moreoginrich ..she may not get it right all the time, but she embraces that. Loved it.
review 2: “Made from Scratch” is a charming memoir of the author’s journey toward self-sufficiency. Jenna Woginrich reminds me a lot of myself. She is constantly trying to learn new skills and pick up new hobbies. Though I have no interest in sled dogs or sheep keeping, I found that her book had some wonderful stories full of warmth and discovery, and some excellent project suggestions and references. This is a great primer for those who are just starting to think about getting some country skills. It is a fun and inspirational read, and it offers a lot of resources for people looking to get started. From baking your own bread or playing your own music, to raising fiber animals and back yard chickens, “Made from Scratch” has it covered. You will learn both from Woginrich’s victories and from her mistakes. Even if you don’t ever plan to do most of what is discussed in the book, the writing is so engaging that it is a pleasure to read.I enjoyed this book and plan to pick up Woginrich’s other book, “Barnheart” as well. less

I really liked this book, although will probably not become as self-sufficient. Fun, quick read.
