review 1: There is a lot to like about this story. Riel is a good strong man and Lucy is feisty. Sophie and Amelia are good foils. There are historical inaccuracies that were on occasion a little grating but I was willing to move past these. The disappointment came with a couple of key elements and for me this was a good learning moment as a writer. The resolution of the mystery didn't sit well from a historical or a social standpoint of the time. It was all a bit neat and thrown away. Especially after the big build up. I would have liked a few more clues or miscues along the way. Mostly, the way that the social standing of the key players is used simply didn't ring true for me. Not so much from what happened in the moment but in how society seemed to simply move past it wit... morehout much comment afterward. The final season seemed to go on for far too long. There were weeks unaccounted for where they key players said and did nothing. This also felt strange since the pacing earlier in the story was so good. The romantic tension had some strange leaps and bounds, too. So much so that the final showdown just didn't feel right in the context of all the conversations or non- conversations that had come before. I liked the story but by the end I didn't love it.
review 2: Nice story. Would have liked to see the heroine curb her tart tongue as the book progressed and not be so quick to jump to conclusions. She was just as impetuous and hyper-critical in the latter third of the book as she was at the start, when her evolution, had the author deemed it fit to write about her that way, would have endeared her more to the reader. As it was, I was left wondering who died and made her God... The last three chapters did help to balance out tale. less

Don't let the cover or title fool you. This is a clean romance that has a sweet storyline.

Great story but infuriatingly slow romance. Can a girl possibly be that rediculious!

Could've done with some more tension... :)
