I’ve been hearing a lot about this book so I was excited when I got my hands on a copy and even more thrilled to review it here on Picture Book Playlist. There is no mystery here as to why kids and adults love this new hit!
Summary6 has a problem.
Everyone knows that 7 is always after him. Word on the street is that 7 ate 9. If that’s true, 6’s days are numbered. Lucky for him, Private I is on the case. But the facts just don’t add up.
It’s odd.

Why I love this bookThis pun-filled, picture book by Tara Lazar and Ross MacDonald is just as much fun for adult readers as it is for children, especially when the reader gets to use his best detective voice or, for us older folks, our “Dragnet” voice! The illustrations done in colored pencil, watercolor and ink are a perfect match for this clever text with bright colors and expressive faces. Every detective story has a twist and this one doesn’t disappoint – you can count on it.
