review 1: This was an after school special with a non-remorseful main character who DID NOT learn her lesson. Obviously, my opinion on that aspect of the story but I feel like she still doesn't understand that what SHE did was wrong. The story never addresses why she took the picture in the first place- shouldn't that be addressed just as much as much as the rest of the consequences? I think it is an excellent and timely subject, just wish it wasn't so neat and tidy.
review 2: We have this book on our summer reading list for high school. I read this book to make the summer reading test, and I read the book in a day. What I fear is that this book will relate to the students in a way too familiar way. Many students take these photos and press send without thinking about th
... moree implications. I think our students will enjoy the book, but that is because unfortunately they see it happen. Brown does a fantastic job of flipping back and forth between the incident and Ashleigh's experience in community service. Ashleigh is a very relatable young high school girl, and I think many girls can connect to her. I'm glad to see the novel does not glamorize sexting, and it shows the bitter and true consequences of these actions. She takes the photo in an effort to stay connected to her college-bound boyfriend, and again I think this relates to many readers. Hopefully this story will encourage students to think twice about the photos they take and where they post and send them. less
