review 1: It was sort of disappointment. A lot happened with quite a lot of action but I was annoyed by so many repetitions - why she didn't believe in myths and gods, how she was responsible for her mother's death, how she was only a gypsy without special power... Frankly it hindered the story and didn't feel right. I umderstand that a person sixteen years old has many doubts but I really don't have to read about them on every other page. Hopefully the next book will be better.
review 2: I was intrigued by the premise of the book when it was offered as a free Kindle version on Amazon and even read through the first few chapters. It was disappointing in how the author told you several times what was already established about the characters in the first few chapters. N... moreamely, that her mother was a detective and that the main character, the mother and the grandmother had violet eyes. It was exasperating to read "I looked out my window with my violet eyes". Really? I felt like there were several things needlessly repeated and it didn't hold my interest enough to want to read the next book in the series. less
