review 1: I do enjoy this series. I would give it five stars if the descriptions were toned down a bit. By the fifth book, the same descriptions of Gin's house, the Pork Pit, her knives, runes, etc. don't need to be in such detail, often a cut & paste of the same wording. Other than that, I liked Gin's character. She was tough yet vulnerable and soft-hearted at the same time. She couldn't understand how her friends stood by her, making her humble as well. You knew she would win in the end, but she had a hard time getting there, which kept my interest. Definitely worth the read.
review 2: This book resolves a plot arc from the very beginning. I never expected it to be easy but boy did it take me for a ride. Gin and the family she has created is wonderful. I love... more them and their varied personality and skills. Gin continues to fascinate me, the almost dual personalities she has, one as herself and then her work/assassin persona. Her compassion astounds me. I cannot wait to see what is in store for Ashland now nor what awaits Gin's new future. Great series! less
