review 1: I get the appeal in this. There are parts where I was like, "If I were in the age range for this, I'd LOVE it." That said, 'The Naturals' is lacking in the technical writing. It's just not very good. There's jarringly little description, the narration is that snarky first-person style every YA author seems to treat as the norm, and it somehow still moves too fast for anything to really register. It's a shame, too. Like I said, it's a great premise. YA novels can just do so much more than what Barnes gives us.
review 2: This book was okay. it was certainly interesting, but the crappily written (and completely unncecessary) love triangle just ruined the book for me. that and the fact that they stated over, and over again that they were The Naturals and had this s... morekill and that skill. oh, I can look at someone and tell you their entire life story. well, I can tell you if they're lying or not. big whoop. I'm sorry, but the only reason I liked this story was the plot twist in the end of who the killer REALLY is. never really saw that coming.all of the characters were cliché. the mysterious guy with the dark past, the mischievous guy who's into the oblivious chick. and the fact that these two are a part of a love triangle with the main character. Come on... oldest trick in the book. less
