review 1: Allie, a high school student, is in a bad wreck and her boyfriend of two years, Tripp, is killed. Trip was the rich, popular boy who gave Allie everything she could possibly want. But when no one was around, it was different! To cover up the bruises and scars, Allie wore sweaters even in the summer. Allie can't remember the night of the wreck at all, but people at school and in the community are suspicious of her. How did she manage to jump from the truck and Tripp die? Two other key characters in the novel are Blake and Andrew. Blake is a trusted friend who has had problems of his own but always has cared for Allie. Andrew is Allie's twin brother who has cerebral palsy and has tried to protect Allie from Tripp. This book combines mystery, realistic fiction and romance. I ... moreenjoyed the flashbacks by the main character that allow the story to gradually unfold. Throughout the book, the mystery of Trip's death is paralleled by Allie's journey of forgiveness and acceptance.
review 2: This review may be a spoiler, so be forewarned. What adults don't know about their own children and the children they come into contact with is astounding. How can a teenage girl hide that much from her own parents? And why do some people believe they have the right and authority to do bad things to those they supposedly love? The writing was done well and you felt Allie's emotions and the people around her. Hard subject to read about but well worth reading it. Maybe what Allie did in the end will help someone speak up and get help. less
