review 1: This book confused me. I am unfamiliar with the author, but I would guess this is his first novel; it reads like he is still polishing his style. Lots of oddly- or cumbersomely-worded passages, and some telegraphed twists (I won't say which ones). On the other hand, I never stopped reading it, as I usually do when a book doesn't wow me. I just had to keep with it and finish it, so I suppose it's quite a successful book, in the end.

Poorly written. Shallow character development. It was painful and difficult to finish.
