review 1: I was all over this thing for the first three-quarters of the book, despite the ridiculous premise... no, not the part about getting up one morning and finding the devil in your apartment offering you a cup of really good coffee - that's totally plausible. The part about the perpetual motion machine that will set the world on fire. That's just ridiculous.Once everyone turned into wolves, though, I lost interest pretty much immediately, which was really unexpected, because up until that point it was really funny and entertaining.I guess it turned into an action film...book... thing, and I just don't care who hit who when, so, my eyes totally glaze over when I encounter this sort of thing in any book or movie.Too bad about that.
review 2: Two stars - but not real
... morely two stars. It isn't a bad book, just not my kind of book. It seemed like my kind of book: a wild and outlandish adventure with magic and a strangely not-quite-evil devil and a quest and it's all pretty much set in the Chelsea neighborhood of NY, as so many novels I've read this year seem to be. I even learned the Japanese word, neko, in a phone conversation with a friend the night before I read it in this book.ButBilly is another in a long string of too-old-to-be-creatively-floundering man-boys who have dead-end jobs, squalid apartments, and commitment issues, despite having a fine education, good parents, and a reasonable talent. It's not cute. I don't love hanging out with these perpetual mooching babies in real life, and I'm not feeling like reading about them, either. If this sort of thing doesn't bother you, perhaps, you will love this silly book. The very ending is quite well done. less

got lost around the wolves, but otherwise unlike anything I've read in a long time.

Title perfectly describes the book. This book is fucking weird! I liked it though.

Comic absurdity. Fun, quick read in the vein of Gaiman.

Silly but fun. Laugh-out-loud funny at times.
