review 1: I don't read crime novels often. Maybe as often as once a year. Most of the times I think they're predictable and somehow the protagonists are always miserable and lead a very bleak life - again, predictable. This book isn't much different in that regard. In fact, it's one of the most miserable ones I've read. I saw the big plottwist coming, it practically hits you over the head, pretty early in the book. I kept reading because there is *something* about it. I wanted to know how it all played out, even if the described violence and horrific acts are almost too much to bear. It's a 2 1/2 stars review and I'm not sure if I'll read the rest of the trilogy. The first book could've been the ending already if it weren't for the cliffhanger and I'm not sure what else the plot has... more to offer.
review 2: I was a bit disappointed when I started to read this book, because my expectations were at very high level after recommendation from friends. I can't find anything positive about the story, and I can not imagine who could like reading about so many deviations in one simple story. I couldn't concentrate enough to the text and I had to read some chapters more than once, but anytime I opened the book I felt so uncomfortable that after I finished the last page I was so happy, that it finally ended. less

Ikävä tarina, kömpelöä kerrontaa, keinotekoista kikkailua henkilöillä.

Very bad and mainly unexpected end of the book broke the good image of it.
