review 1: Bleh. That beautiful example of onomatopoeia describes all the feelings I had during most of this book. The author has two major plots going in this thing. The yucky, kind of silly teenage romance and the somewhat interesting, Beth has voodoo eyes plot. The latter is kind of cool/makes me want to read more. The former makes me want to throw up.The author has a skewed, mixed up view of which one I want to hear about the most.Don't get me wrong, there are some strong points. For example, the tragically sweet trauma survivor best friend that Beth meets in the looney bin is probably the best character in the whole thing. But she's only present for a depressingly short number of pages before it's back to Beth's "love connection." Oh, and her voodoo eyes. Wouldn't want to forget th... moreose. Then, after an infinite number of pages, we finally make it to the end. And the end is screwy. It's way too hard to understand, plus a cliff-hanger. At least, I think it was a cliff-hanger. It was hard to tell since I was too busy not having a clue what the heck was happening.I hope this review made sense. It probably didn't because I'm writing it while I have the Tuesday morning sleep-deprivation-hangover. What you can take out of this muddle is that I don't recommend this book.
review 2: Spotty in places.I looked forward to this book when I saw it on the shelves because it has that really awesome cover. I was getting really into it until I saw the average rating on goodreads. I didn't know what to expect after that, but now that I've finished the book, I'm honestly surprised at it.This is a good book. Not excellent, but good. The story is very interesting, funny at times, and emotional. In fact, I think I would have given this book 5 stars, if it had not been for the writing.Oh, the writing. Okay, most of the time the writing is exceptional. However there are times when the writing? Is written like this. I have no idea? why anyone would approve of this. It's really annoying? Okay? Like. Seriously? There's more than one way to put emphasis on speech rather than using the grammatically incorrect way.Seeing how the main character interacts with other people with "special powers" is very fun. There are a bunch of short stories scattered seemingly random throughout the book, but it all ties up in the end. And what an ending it is!However, there are still many unanswered questions. In fact, you're left with more unanswered questions than answered ones. But even so, it's a very fun read. Not for younger readers, because of some SEXY TIME but I reccomend it for everyone else. That is, if this kind of writing? Doesn't bug you too much. less

awesome book the author should write a sequel, maybe not because it wouldn't end well.

Just not interesting to me. No questions were answered, and The ending is abrupt.
