review 1: Picking up an older, unfinished series is always fun :) So I was definitely excited to pick up some new books in a series I read while a tween.Sasha Silver goes to a boarding school called Canterwood Crest where she rides and does an elite riding group called YENT. After much drama at homecoming she is getting away for a week of break. Only not with who she thought she would be. She had planned to go with her roommate, Paige. But after a big fight Homecoming night Sasha decides not to go home with her. So when Heather Fox the best rider at school and the Queen Bee of eighth grade asks her? She says yes. She helped out in driving a mean girl out of school (caught her on tape admitting she framed two riders for cheating) she had become to make friends with the riders she hel... moreped and Heather...a.k.a. The Trio. So now Sasha is starting to understand Heather more. When Sasha first came to Canterwood they were enemies. Now they're starting to be friends. Only...Heather's life is pretty wonderful. And totally gawk worthy. Can Sasha New York?Pros:This is a fun series and a fun book. I enjoyed reading along "exploring" New York with the girls and seeing a bond form between Sasha and Heather. I really like both of them. This book and series is a great and enjoyable one for tween and younger teen girls.Cons:This book was set in New York and didn't have a ton of riding. It's mostly Sasha and Heather out doing things. There isn't a whole bunch of plot either.
review 2: As a horse person, I was expecting more horse, and less city, unfortunately thats not what I got.Usually Jessica Burkhearts books get top marks from me, but City Secrets just didn't bring a home run. City Secrets is filled with old drama from the past book, Paige and Callie drama (thats kinda getting old), NYC and Heather (which kinda threw me for a loop). But the book was just over repetitive, jusdt opver and over again, "I miss Paige, but she needs to apologize", "I miss my ex-boyfriend" its justs gets old. Chapter, after chapter, after chapter...But other wise, the book wasnt up to your par Miss Burkheart! less
