review 1: I am biased with my obsession with the series and Dame Maggie Smith, but be golly, this is a very interesting read. Very interesting.I love all of the details and the arrangement of the book into months that focus on how various aspects of life for servants and aristocrats alike were done in this time, including travel, childrearing, dinner parties, debutantes, and Christmas. The pictures were lovely and the details were amazing. Many chapters housed recipes and "Spotlights" on such considerations as costume, props, and location. The amount of detail that went into this book, let alone the production of the show, in awe inspiring to say the least.
review 2: I received this book for free as part of a Goodreads ARC giveaway.I really enjoyed this book and think it
... moreis a fabulous gift for any Downton Abby enthusiasts. The pictures are simply lovely and the extra material is quite interesting. My one complaint is that the recipes are quite complex. I would have loved a few that didn't require a full kitchen staff to prepare. Overall though, this book is a great choice. less
