review 1: Let me first start by saying…I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Jessica Sims and her Midnight Liaisons series. I was hooked from the first book’s page and have not been able to put them down since!! This is book 4 in the series and although shorter than most, I was left completely satisfied. I totally recommend these books to anyone who loves hot sexy alpha characters, humor and a fast-paced adventure, these books are definitely for you. This story is a about Alice, female pack alpha who is in desperate need of a suitable alpha male. Her twin brother and former alpha male leader recently died leaving the position open and her and the pack vulnerable. She has been trying to ignore the aggressive advances of her existing pack member, but his continued persistence is wearing on her... more reserve. Against her better judgment, she enrolls in a dating service, Midnight Liaisons that specializes in the preternatural persuasion. Alice’s options are limited to ONE alpha candidate, Jackson. Only problem is, he is one of the most laid back alpha wolfs she has ever set eyes on.Will these two unlikely characters be able to get past their differences to join forces and reclaim pack order?
review 2: 3 Stars. It was enjoyable, but the length made everything rushed, and I wasn't happy with the ending with the "bad guy" character because it was far too easy. He was built up to be pretty despicable, and had done some pretty disturbing things (not to mention against the law—a rather creepy and disgusting B&E, trespassing, assault, battery...) and then...well, he just goes away, which was so unrealistic after everything he had done to get Alice and the Savage pack. Also, like I said, I enjoyed the book, but the novella length seriously strained the story. It really would have flourished as an actual novel-length story, so we could get Jackson's perspective and there could have been more development of the characters, and perhaps there would not have been such a desperate need to resolve the villain issue in a few short pages. It's a little disappointing, because I think I would have really liked Alice and Jackson if they had been able to be fully formed. As it is, I'm left with the rather bland descriptor "nice." It was a nice story. less

A fun quick novella. Love seeing the day-to-day life of others in this series.
