review 1: Friendly Fire by Jill Shalvis: Cord Madden is furious at the world. Then Lexi McGowen reappears in his life to nurse him back to health. The Prodigal by Rhonda Nelson: When Rorie Beddingfield meets up with her first love, Chase Harrison, she realizes there's no better time to find out what she's been missing. Packing Heat by Karen Foley: Megan O'Connell's letters were the only thing that kept U.S. Marine sniper Matt Talbot sane while he was overseas. *Ambushed by Vicki Lewis Thompson: Morgan O'Connelli hated the restless lifestyle she'd had as a child. Cutting-horse champion Gabe Chance is blown away by the feisty redhead who unexpectedly lands right in his bed. The Braddock Boys: Brent by Kimberly Raye: Brent Braddock flouts the rules. But there's still too much range lef... moret to ride for a cowboy vampire like him to consider settling down. Then he meets Command Master Chief Petty Officer Abigail Trent. The Tutor by Hope Tarr: Lady Bea Lindsey is newly engaged to a very nice but dull gentleman and is fully aware that if she wants any joy in her marriage bed, she'll have to call the shots. But first she needs to be taught. And who better to instruct her than irresistibly sexy rogue Ralph Sylvester? My Fake Fiancee by Nancy Warren: Caterer Chelsea Hammond will live with insurance broker David Wolfe for three months in order for him to clinch a massive promotion. *Simon Says by Donna Kauffman: Respectable night manager Sophie Maplethorpe is about to break and enter—in her own hotel. International security expert Simon Lassiter is on the verge of finding a stolen precious—and pricey—gem…until the most criminally inept but majorly hot woman creeps into his room.* Best of the Bunch
review 2: I don't usually like short stories just because if I really like the story, it's over before I know it and I'm left longing for more. But Born On The 4Th of July has a story written by Jill Shalvis and she is one of my favorite authors, so it was a no brainer that I was buying it - short stories or not. Her story, Friendly Fire did not disappoint. It was my favorite of the three and it was over way too quick - just what I was afraid of. I could have used a whole book about hottie Cord Madden! The other two entries (The Prodigal and Packing Heat) were ok and I actually enjoyed them and was satisfied with their short story format, but they cetainly weren't as compelling as Friendly Fire. This was an easy, quick, and great for a Saturday afternoon in the sun read. less
