review 1: This enjoyable melodrama is part of a large miniseries, The McKaslin Clan, that is part of the Steeple Hill Love Inspired series and written by Jillian Hart.Wives of first responders (police, fire, etc) have a nightmare: one day their husbands won't come home from work. This book explores what happens when Jonas Lowell is shot in the line of duty and lives, but with a severe brain injury that has robbed him of all his memories. His loving wife, Danielle, aided by her large extended family, help Jonas recover his life. The book can be overly melodramatic in places, but the love between Jonas and Danielle is almost palpable in some scenes. The reader finds him (or her) self rooting for them to recover the love that's buried under shrapnel and stitches. The miniseries on ... morethe McKaslins doesn't appear to be in any particular order, and each book can be read as a standalone. I'd recommend any of them.
review 2: This is the story of Jonas and Dani McKaslin, and it is one of my favorites in the McKaslin series, and that's saying a great deal, as I've enjoyed all of them I've read so far. Relationships often go through many trials, but I don't think I've ever read about how it feels when someone you love has lost many of their past memories, until now that is. Jillian Hart explores the feelings and emotions of this situation in an extremely realistic way. It feels like you are experiencing family life right along with the main characters, and the children in the story are humorous and adorable. I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys clean romance. less
