review 1: It's good to read a book that stands by the importance of social science, but it was disheartening to read the libertarian undertones. It was pretty repetitive that Government does not create jobs and went out of its way to point out non-government solutions. Yet it had to dance around the fact that the big jobs created in the 90's came from the Internet a government creation. I can understand that we can't depend on the government to create jobs, but we also can't ignore its effects, both negative and positive.
review 2: A must read for business, economic development professionals, and government leaders who want to see their city succeed when it comes to creating good jobs and expanding their local economy. Jim Clifton, Chairman of Gallup, shares a wealt
... moreh of insightful information collected by the world’s largest polling organization on what it will take to win the coming jobs war. The book identifies the 10 findings that are most important of the trillions of combinations of data and opinions Gallup has studied. These findings apply at some level to every community and need to be part of every community’s strategic plan. less
