review 1: This book is a celebration on all things to eat that are unhealthy yet irresistible. Jim Gaffigan is a great stand-up comedian, and for that reason I listened to the audiobook. I can't imagine that the written word would be as entertaining, since you feel like you are part of the audience at one of his shows as he narrates his take on all things related to food. He asserts at the outset that he is no expert, that he is an 'eatie,' not a 'foodie.' He divides the country into regions based on specialties or certain categories of food found in particular regions, and his description and take on them are just outrageously funny. Then he just goes off on riffs about everything imaginable related to food in a way that will have you laughing out loud from start to finish. I ... moreeven laughed at myself, as I was driving listening to the audiobook and realized that I was eating a lot of the stuff that he was talking about while I was listening to the book. If you love food and comedy, then you will absolutely love this book.
review 2: I feel bad rating this relatively low because I think Jim Gaffigan is a super great person, and a super funny person, but this book didn't live up to my expectations. There were a handful of genuinely hilarious moments in the book, lots of chuckle-worthy bits, but overall it was just okay (and a decent percentage of the jokes are repeats from stand-up routines...not great if you've seen most of Gaffigan's stand-up specials like I have!). less

I thought this was funnier than Dad is Fat. Definitely listen to it, since he narrates.

I laughed a lot, and it has only a little off-color content. Very fun light reading.

This is basically a collection of his standup on food. So it was great. #hotpockets

I was amused through the entire book, which is all I asked of it.

Cute bits here and there, but overall not that impressive.
