review 1: I enjoyed the change to black and white although I hadn't really acknowledged the binary color scheme till the near end. Surprisingly, patriotism and xenophobia were NOT major themes. A couple panels hinted towards challenging traditional patriarchal norms but that's it towards minority inclusion. I liked all the doodles of all the soviet and American launch missions, it was a different approach to following the progressions of flight designs. I'm a huge sci fi nerd but I still found myself lost in space chatter and nasa babble.
review 2: Possibly a good fit for space fanatics and science geeks, however this story felt flat to me. So much space was spent on the science and the competitiveness of the space race that I completely lost sight of the people in the
... morestory. I often couldn't tell them apart or remember their names. I'm sure some people wouldn't find that a problem but it was a deal breaker for me. I recommend for a very limited audience. less
