Amelia Rules!
review 1: I think this is the final book in the series. The nice thing about this series is the reader "grows up" with Amelia. By this last book, she is much more self-reflective. Still a little self-absorbed and mouthy, but she is an imperfect protagonist and I think girls can relate to her. Good real life struggles (divorce, relationships, etc). Good use of dialog and thought bubbles (shape, bold font, format) to show emotion of characters. Readalikes: Dork Diaries, Babymouse.
review 2: A solid ending to this great graphic novel series about an irrepressible girl named Amelia. Navigating her way through friends, school, her parents' divorce, crushes, ninjas and more, Amelia rolls life's punches. This series combines Ramona, the Peanuts Gang, Judy Moody and even some Ge
... moren-X references that adult will get even if the kids don't. Amelia learns good lessons about life and so do the grown-ups on occasion. These books combine light humor with serious issues without getting too fluffy or too heavy. While the last two entries in this set weren't as awesome as the rest of the series, they wrapped things up for this girl who ages from 8 to 11 by the end, and readers will enjoy the story even if Her Permanent Record felt a little rushed. I was disappointed to see Amelia's adventures end, because I could see her aging through high school easily. I'd recommend these books to boys and girls between 4th and 6th grade. less
