review 1: This book was very slow for me to really get into. I was able to stop quite a few times and leave the book. About half way through I was enthralled to find out what was going to happen to Thomas and serina. it was well written and I really enjoyed the story. all characters were very well developed, and you see all the strength and weakness of the characters. Leopold is one reason that I was able to stop reading throughout the novel. His disregard for other human lives completely made me want to throttle him. I went from wondering why a nice brother who was trying to protect the interest of his family is metioned in the story and what his connection to Thomas and his bad of men was, to absolutely hating him and wanting him to come to a very bad end. His only good point is h... moreis love for his brother, which I am thinking is all selfishness because he cant stand to politic. I would really like to read the next novel in this series to see where the author takes us with the characters and where they end up.
review 2: This book is set during the time of William Tell. It is a quick read, with the beginnings of an interesting story. The character development isn't very deep, but I assume the next books go more in depth. The main characters are members of the Hospitallers (like the Knights Templar) who hail from Schwyz. I would have enjoyed more back story on the Order, but the story mostly covers the group's story after they return from the wars. I would read the next book in this series. less
