review 1: I did not like Remi in the prior book. He was a class A jerk but did apologize toward the end. We find that being a jerk is Remi's survival method when life gets close to his past. He is not a jerk. He is a an abused boy who grew to be a man who just wants to protect his younger brother, Sterling. Remi's Dad is the abuser and more. I love Sterling and the beginnings of his relationship with Rhys. Remi and Jake are perfect for each other. Jake gives Remi a safe place to be himself. Remi gives Jake trust. They both give Sterling people who he can run to for help and support. They become a real family. Remi's past and Sterling's future converge in a dangerous present. Jake, Rhys and their Pack stand in strong unity for them. This story had more Pack dynamics that the... more previous ones and that was very good. I want to visit more with this Pack. Good read.
review 2: i had read J. L's first two books in her with or without series before but this is the book that had me falling in love with her werewolves. It does deal with the heavy issue of abuse in a family but i love how it played out. i did sympathize the position Remy was in trying to deal with being a newly turned were wolf, his attraction to jake and trying to protect his little brother from an abusive father a position no one wants to be in. The book was a great read and it was worth the price i paid for the book less
