review 1: The writing was extremely concise and to the point featuring more dialogue than text in less than 200 pages. To many, this may seem like a poorly written book. However, this is what I loved most about it. It seemed to me that the author truly understood that the tragedies of the holocaust are not beautiful or poetic; nothing literature should glamorize with pretty words. And so, it's simplicity gave it a more raw account. I'm glad that the bravery and humanness of Franciszka and Helena Halamajowa is told and not forgotten amidst the death and savagery that ruled the time.
review 2: What an interesting book. While this book is historical fiction, the premise of it (A Polish woman and her daughter hide Jews and German solider during World War II) is based in real
... moreity. The writing is a bit strange, as if the author's first language isn't English but it is well written. It was a little confusing at first when the second part changed narrators but once you got into the story, it was okay. This is the ebook edition and wow some of the chapters were short (only one "page"), which was interesting. I'd like to see a physical copy of this book to know if that was the case in physical copy as well. less

Definitely an easy read. Larger print and spacing. Small chapters. Otherwise the story was ok.
