review 1: Some of the tools miss Anderton uses in her debut novel are common enough to the average fantasy novel's toolkit -i'm sure many who've read this and peed pants at the implied history of the world this book takes place in, it's unique take on magic, the "world building stuff"- but what sets this book aside from the endless of pulp fantasy novels (where this sort of stuff is the one and only attraction, all other aspects of a novel, no matter poorly handled, being ignored or dismissed) miss Anderton weaves an engaging web of mystery, conscious manipulation of conventions in both plot and character behavior, so that what comes off is a more fresh book than the same material might otherwise have been in another's hands. She is a competent story teller who writes pleasant, comp... moreetent stuff that stands above the dross. And you should read it or I'll find you.
review 2: Warning: there were some R rated sex scenes in this book that I had to skip over. I liked the idea of a world that was created beyond the physical world by master architects that could shape pions as they wished but that this building created debris that the collectors had to clean up. It was cool that the main character became a collector so naturally and could use her suit better than anyone else. There were times where I was frustrated because I couldn't quite understand the bigger picture of what forces were driving the chaos in this world, but maybe that was just because as a reader I wasn't supposed to know more than the main character. So it was an interesting idea for a novel, but I don't think I'm going to read the rest of the series. less

I found it a little hard to get into but became fascinated as I read further.
