review 1: This book reminded me a little of Fleischman's Seed Folk in the way it portrayed a neighborhood. I didn't love this book, and I think it may be due to the audio--it was hard to keep track of all the characters and their stories on my quick trips in the car. The writing was lovely, and it might work well as a classroom read aloud. Truthfully, I don't know that it will have a lot of kid appeal---we will see!
