review 1: Since each story is so different, it is hard to sum up my thoughts on the entire collection. But by the time I connected to each story and the characters within, it ended, which annoyed me. I’m so used to dealing with full length novels. Here are my thoughts on the individual stories:Heart’s Desire – This story was pretty straightforward and the ending predictable. I thought the romance was good but too much time was spent on thoughts and very little on what was actually going on. - 4/5The Sweetest Song – This story had a wicked twist that caught me completely off-guard. Out of all four of the stories, I think this one was the perfect length for the story. Loved it. - 5/5Pearl of Pau’maa – I tried reading this story at first when I was really tired and ... moreI couldn’t figure out what the hell was happening. Second read, I enjoyed it. I love that it had the action that I crave and the best set-up for a complex story. Unfortunately, it had a pretty cheap ending. One sentence short of a cliffhanger. This story needed way more length to tie up all the loose ends. – 3/5The Undergarden – I thought it was way too sappy for my liking, although I liked the writing style. And the heroine was annoying stupid with her endless questions and stubborn attitude.. – 3/5
review 2: Tidal Whispers is a nice compilation of stories about sea lure and creatues. Perfect for a weekend at the beach. Just remember to keep an eye towards the ocean...just in case! 1st - "Hearts Desire" - This story was sweet and descriptive but without too much depth. Poor Tessa returned home after suffering heartache. Feeling lost and searching for something, she runs into her first love. I would have liked to see more relationship development between Tessa and Cam before life choices had to be made.2nd - "The Sweetest Song" - This was my favorite of the stories. The irony of the cause of Circe's dilemma was perfect. In her quest to learn more about Otis so she can meet her quota of sunken ships, she becomes fascinated with him. Otis is full of his own surprises. Loved how the reason she couldn't defeat him turned out to be one of the things that drew them even closer. In the end we saw just how far they would both go for the person they loved. And what is agood love story without Aphrodite putting Poisedon in his place. 3rd - "Pearl of Pau'maa" - This story showed us a different side of the mer society and social order. The author did a nice job interwining the lives of a strong military merman with that of an unsuspecting girl, the magical powers of the pearl guiding them both in unanticipated directions. while they fought for what was most important to them. The undersea world created here was unique and well done. 4th - "The Undergarden" - This was an emotional story of young love maturing through time. Innocence lost and the mis-communications that can lead to lost time were handled beautifully. This was the saddest of all and by far the most touching. less

All the stories were really good, which is rare for an anthology. 5 stars!

Overall, a good read. I liked the first two stories more than the last two.
