review 1: If you are a sucker for the YA cliche like I am then you'll enjoy it. Though it was pretty predictable I still loved it. I'm a sucker for the romantic love triangle (even though this love triangle isn't really a full triangle), a supernatural main character (and supernatural love interests), and a great cliff hanger from and unexpected twist!!!!!! This is a great book that it stared slow... like REALLY slow... but once I fell in love with the characters (specifically Asher) I couldn't put it down. Skye gets more likable and all the characters that seem useless get important later in the series. Even though this book gets A LOT of negative reviews, if you just like a silly little teen romance every once in a while then this is a great choice.

... more. I swear the concept has been worn down worse than vampires. The idea proposed in this book wasn't terrible but wasn't too intriguing either. There is the Order, the zen side, and the rebellion, a sort of yin and yang if you will. However, delving into the fantasy world of this book would be a waste of time simply because the majority of this book is wasted upon Skye and her high school life. So Skye is a normal teenage girl, adopted by her mother's best friend after the unfortunate death of both of her parents. Suddenly two new boys transfer to her school and *commence drama*. Not only did Skye's truly annoying boy drama agitate me, it got more than a little boring reading about Skye's continuous whining. It seems like the entire book was spent complaining about all this change that was to occur in Skye's life, but that change failed to materialize until the last 10 pages, literally. Let's talk characters. There was no complexity to the characters in this novel, in fact, they were over-simplified if you ask me. Asher, the bad boy, and Devin, the good boy, and Skye, the hot girl caught in the middle. Every action taken by any of these characters was painfully predicatable, no element of surprise anywhere. Yes they're both good looking. Yes they both are incredible. How will she ever choose? What a delimma. I failed to establish any sort of connection to the characters and every time I felt like I was going to, the author failed to develop the character any further. This highly hampered my ability to feel any positivity towards this novel. When it came down to the plot, I have mixed feelings. There were several times Davies laid out a perfect framework and I finally felt like the novel was going to go somewhere, finally impress me. Every time, however, she failed to carry out the framework and I was extremely disappointed. I do appreciate what Davies tried to do at the end of the novel with the element of surprise, and it did manage to catch me a little off-guard, but not enough so to make up for the rest of the plot. Regardless of all its faults, I did find myself intrigued in the story overall, and I have my hopes set higher for the next novel. The three stars I gave this novel were purely for this reason. Hopefully the next novel will give me incentive to continue with this series. less

This was a well written book, leaving out a few details.I liked it: I literally read it in two nights because I was hooked. WHile Devin is the handsome, mysterious guy, Asher is the cute badboy you hate to love.Detail-I-Didn't-Like:Skye. The main character. This girl is the most unrealistic girl ever. She has three handsome guys running after her, helplessly in love with her and finds this normal. She never pays attention to her friends Dan and Cassie, (I found things out before her, like c'mon Skye, little effort here). She's just so selfish!Other-Detail-I-Didn't-Like:THE END. I WAS SO CONFUSED. I'M NOT THE TYPE TO GIVE SPOILERS, BUT I DIDN'T KNOW THERE WAS A SEQUEL AND I WAS SO MAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I THREW THE BOOK ACROSS THE ROOM!Turns out I was wrong about that, though so...
