review 1: Let me be honest, I didn't finish this. I got to 68% and couldn't make myself read further. The MC Tori, or Tor as was her cutie pet nickname, was unbelievably stupid. At first I thought maybe this was a fan fiction for Twilight but I don't even think Bella was this pathetic. Thierry is a vampire as Tori discovers after breaking into his apartment while he's supposed to be out of town. Why did she break into his apartment? So she could sit on his couch?!? Anyway, she ends up snooping & catches his drinking from & killing some guy. 5 minutes later instead of being freaked out, she's wants Thierry to kiss her. WTF?!? At least have him brush his teeth first. Then she wants to know if vampires use the toilet.... Who fucking cares?!? He just killed someone in front of you, fuck... moreing Twit!! Then at dinner after he tells her he kills a lot of people by drinking them dry she asks if he's fed from animals. She actually gets upset because he has. Hold the hell on!! Your upset if a squirrel dies but not a damn human?!?! This is when I had to call it quits on this sham of a book. Not to mention that they love each other after 4 days. Ummm, no..... Just no!!
review 2: My first book from this author and a delight! If you are a fan of Vampire Diaries or Twilight style books than this will surely appeal. It's a. paranormal romance that's aimed at young adults but a good story appeals to every age. This book is written in first person and tracks Tori Green as she starts a new life . She has had more than her fair share of nasty knocks as she was orphaned at an early age. She went to live with her grandmother but upon her death moved in with her aunt but unfortunately her husband viewed Tori as more than just a niece! His sudden and suspicious death means that yet again Tori has to move and now at seventeen she arrives in New Orleans to live with her uncle and his family.Feeling a little disconnected from her new family Tori meets a gorgeous guy called Thierry who seems fascinated by her. They tentatively begin a relationship but unfortunately Thierry has dark secrets and his hot brother is just one of those. Toris perfect man may be anything but !I really enjoyed this story in spite of feeling in the beginning that I needed a bit more action. The heroine Tori is written with wit and getting her pithy views about her family and others made her quite an engaging character. The two brothers could have made it feel too much of a triangle but the author manages to keep them separate which gives the reader chance to get to know them. The second half of the book pulls you in and although some questions are answered the reader is still kept guessing. The character Tori surprised me as I felt at times she didn't appreciate the danger she was in. She seems almost blasé about it and I found that unsettling but as the tale unravelled I felt I had gained more understanding. This is a story that will engage a readers interest and has an ending that will make you shout "no"! Definitely a cliffhangerI struggle to rate this as I loved the twists at the end , found the standard of writing to be excellent but it did take sometime for things to really happen. For those reasons a rate this a 4 and a half less
