review 1: I came into this book without having read the lead-in Reservation Road. You get enough reference to that story of a hit and run where a child is killed that , seriously, I don't need to go visit that heartbreak. Instead, I really enjoyed meeting these characters ten years after tragedy tore up their worlds. Different people survive, cope, and adapt in different ways - but nobody ever loses that kind of reference point for their whole lives. Told mostly from the point of view of the family of the driver, the story skips around between multiple narrators. I like the son and the dad best; their damage is so raw but they are also most ready for growing. They are trying to move on

... morehich I really enjoyed. I really felt like this book could have just been added as a few chapters to Revolutionary Road, and that would have been sufficient. There was not enough to sustain the plot for an entire book. I do enjoy this author's writing style, but found one of the female characters superfluous and wonder why the author chose to write this as the sequel to such a good book. less
