review 1: Everything old is new again. Superheroes are back with a vengeance. But far more interesting than the latest Marvel summer blockbuster are Mr. Anderson's new junior superhero world showcased in Sidekicked and now Minion. Towns and cities are now protected by a special race of "Supers" each with their own somewhat strange superpower. Each Super has his or her own sidekick with their own somewhat strange superpower. Of course evil villains and their minions are everywhere and all scheming to defeat the Supers. Michael has a gift. The power to influence minds and the local crime boss wants Michael as his very own minion. Michael is not sure what he wants but one thing is for sure, he wants to spend every second he can with the mysterious Viola, a girl who just happens to keep... more turning up everywhere he goes. Will Michael turn to evil or good? Will he get the girl? Just who is the girl? I hope to find out in more delightfully super books by Mr. Anderson.
review 2: Please don't let my poor review of this book keep you from forming your own opinions. The writing and everything are all very excellent. Really truly. But I can't help but think of the UC Santa Barbara shooter's words in some of Michael's monologues, and for me, that was a trigger that made this book nearly impossible for me to finish. Like in Sidekicks, the women (who, also like in Sidekicks, are all beautiful) are not valuable. Also, by "women," I mean Viola and the TV news reporter, WHO ARE THE ONLY TWO WOMEN IN THIS BOOK. less
