review 1: I truly did not enjoy this book. The sympathy we are drawn to feel towards the witch feels a little fake. I am still not sure what the message was after finishing this novel. The action stalls at the point were the Bell Witch character is developed and we are forced through a painful self examination. Boring and deceptive are the only words I can think off.Overall, I would not recommend this book to a friend. Much better works are out there, even by rookie authors.
review 2: This book literally knocked me sidewards. I expected a run of the mill ghost story. What I got was an astonishing ghost story that dealt with so many difficult subject that despite the book being set in the past, are extremely relevant today. But the genius of the book was the way that it w... moreas written. The dialogues between the Witch and the other characters is possibly some of the best dialogue I have read. I don't want to give the plot away, all I can say is read this! less
