review 1: This book is hilarious! Witty premise, smart characters, snappy dialogue, unpredictable plot. I was worried that the novel would be too similar to the movie "Galaxy Quest"--but it wasn't at all. You don't need to be a Star Trek fan to love this book, because the book really isn't about that series, it's about any sort of (mediocre, lazily written) story. The codas at the end were wonderful. Now I wish every author would write codas. The book's treatment of the Narrative (with capital N) reminded me slightly of Mercedes Lackey's Five Hundred Kingdoms books, except that here the Narrative has a sf explanation rather than a magical explanation. Scalzi deals with the concept differently than Lackey, however. Scalzi's characters work to defeat the Narrative, whereas Lackey's ch... morearacters must figure out how to survive within it.
review 2: Secondo me 'Uomini in rosso' un po' ti frega. Da come parte sembra una parodia di Star Trek, ma andando avanti nella storia ti rendi conto che non lo è. È un romanzo da leggere con il sorriso e con la mente attenta, senza risate sguaiate, catturando le numerose strizzatine d'occhio che l'autore mescola alla trama.Mi è piaciuto, però ha tanti difetti. Il peggiore consiste nelle tre 'code' al romanzo, ovvero delle chiuse che vanno a riprendere il punto di vista di alcuni personaggi secondari dopo che la storia si è conclusa. Sinceramente ne ho saltato parecchie pagine, un po' perché non aggiungono nulla, un po' perché mi sono sembrate parecchio noiose. Ho avuto questa impressione di 'aggiungiamo le code perché lo scritto è troppo corto'. Peccato. Sarebbe stato meglio eliminarle e rendere più corposo il romanzo. less
