review 1: This is a well written story about a family of people who go on a journey to a new California plantation where it is thought to be a paradise for workers after the bank kicks them, with a lot of other people out of there many generation homes. The family undergoes a lot throughout their travels including the sight of their family dog being hit by a car. The extended family with their priest come closer because of this journey during the time of the dust bowl. Many people (including me) believe that the universal theme of this piece is to work together to accomplish something worth fighting for, If the hundreds of people that were being wrongfully kicked out of their homes had worked together to change the minds of the bank then they would not all have to leave their many g... moreeneration homes. This book may be confusing at time and I would not recommend for children for the reading level is extremely high.
review 2: about 8 years ago ..A kid who is nine years old asked his father why does he have that enoromous number of books .. The father replied .. because books are useful .. the kid asked how while they won't help me in my education .. the father said there is alot to learn that school won't teach you try to have a look at the shelves and choose a book .. after 2 weeks the kid " 9 years old " looked at the shelves and chose " The grapes of wrath " well some of you would say bad choice for a 9 year old kid but I learnt alot ..!! reading a book twice is not a favourite thing for me but this book must be read twice with a large number of years difference as you'll see how we change through years and now we can see the real life and I'm sure that after another 8 years if I read that book I'll read it in a whole different way .. !!On the age of 9 I didn't enjoy it but after some life experience this book is amazing !! -Great book, People's misery misery and more misery !! less
