review 1: At last a book about losing weight that considers the whole person i.e. the mental and emotional reasons as well as physical that contribute to our weight and fitness levels.I was drawn to this book initially because Jon Gabriel talks about things I already believed (i.e. there may be emotional reasons behind your weight), and then as I learned new ideas I loved it even more. I've been doing "The Gabriel Method" for a month and a half now. As Jon warned so far the weight loss is slow, BUT more importantly I can feel my relationship with food changing. I am no longer a slave to sugar and junk food (thinking about it endlessly, and never being able to get enough, constantly fighting the urge to overindulge.) If that is the the only benefit I gain from reading this book, ... moreit would still be well-worth my time. However, I'm planning to stick with it and I believe that weight-loss will be another added benefit. I would highly recommend this to all my friends.
review 2: I have just finished reading this book, and started to implement some of ideas. It seems wise that after years and years of futile working on my body, I finally realized that I have to do something about my mind. The understanding of FAT mechanisms is brilliant. I am slowly and painfully breaking into drinking two glasses of liquid and eating salad in the morning. All "auto-suggestion" is very helpful, but right now seems very time consuming. I definitely am not going to take any supplements, although will enrich my diet with flaxseed and whey protein. Holistic approach to positive outlook and visualization might be helpful, but I don't have this side of my brain developed, and it is "hard work on a barren land" to see anything with my "mind's eye." Well, men: look out! I'm coming! less
