review 1: This book isn't what you think it is. You might think it's a defense of the sufficiency of Scripture written for a general audience. In fact, it's much more than that. Leeman takes the first and perhaps the most important of the nine marks, expositional preaching, and thinks through the practical impact that mark has on all the other marks. His goal isn't to merely convince you of an idea, but to change the way you live out the Christian life in the local church. I've just finished reading through this book with the elders of my church. It's been incredibly fruitful and encouraging and I'd highly recommend it for church leaders who are trying to get a handle on what the "nine marks" might look like in the life of their local congregation.
review 2: This is a so
... morelid, pew-level book on the necessity of the Word of God for Christian life and growth. The particular contribution of the book, in my opinion, lies in Leeman's arguments for the primacy of Scripture in the life of the Church, including the worship service. Though Leeman could have dug deeper in each of his chapters, Reverberation can be profitably read by anyone. Read it, then give it to someone else. less
