review 1: Quite shocked my m bought this for me considering I'd just been diagnosed with M.S and was really struggling with looking after my family. Found it quite depressing but once I started couldn't put it down regardless of the hour and became quite fond of the characters, Josephine had a way of making you not want to part with them still continuing with it over the dramatic bit anyway. Love her writing really appeals to me / the details evoke so much emotion - balled a few times.
review 2: Another wonderful easy to read book by Josephine Cox. This one is all about a young lad, Casey, who has an upsetting home life. His mother hates him and makes his life a misery whilst the time he spends with his father is wonderful and the best thing that could happen to him. It
... more is his father who helps him develop a love of the guitar. The mother is grieving for a past love affair that didn't really get off the ground but left her pregnant with Casey. She married Tom, who really did love her, but she couldn't see that and had affair after affair. When he finds out he is sick he takes Casey to his dad's after a row with His wife and later that night, after writing a letter to each of them he kills himself. Ruth vanishes onto the streets and through the kindness of strangers begins to realise her mistakes. Casey and his grandad muddle by with their love for each other and the friendship of a newly found friend Dolly to help them. They also share a love of music which in the end is what brings everyone together. less
